The process of weaving a rug
「ノッティング」というのは織り方の名称で、結ぶという意味の英語「knot（ノット）」に由来します。経（たて）に木綿糸を張り、ひと目ひと目ウールや木綿の糸の束を結びつけては鋏で切る。この作業を繰り返して1枚のしきものが完成します。
極細の糸を束にすることにより空気の層が生まれ、保温性や通気性に富んでいるのが特徴です。また、わずかな毛足の長さの違いが、従来のカーペットにはない、手仕事ならではの唯一無二のかたちや手ざわりを生みだしています。
主な材料となる緯糸（よこいと）には、ニット工場などから廃棄処分される残糸（ざんし）の中から、天然素材であるウールや木綿、絹などを厳選しています。
長く使っていただくものだからこそ、人にも環境にも優しいものづくりを心掛けています。
We produce rugs using knotting techniques. Warps are strong, thick threads of cotton which run through the length of the rug.Then bundles of thin wool or cotton threads are tied together to the warp. As more rows are tied to the foundation, these knots become the pile of the rug.
By bundling ultra-fine yarns, a layer of air is created, and it is characterized by excellent heat retention and breathability.In addition, the slight difference in the length of the pile creates a unique shape and texture by handwork, which is not found in conventional carpets.
For the weft yarn, which is the main material, we carefully select natural ones such as wool, cotton, and silk from the leftover yarn from waste generated in the production process at knitting factories.
Because it is something that will be used for a long time, we try to make products that are friendly to both people and the environment.
ノッティングが出来上がるまで / How to make a cushion
たて糸には木綿のタコ糸を使用。
1. Warps are strong, thick threads of cotton which
run through the length of the rug.
これがよこ糸になります。
2. Thin threads are combined into bundles of about
150 pieces. This will be the weft.
この結ぶ動作をノッティングといいます。
3. Then bundles of thin wool or cotton threads are
tied together to the warp.
4. Cut the weft with each tie.
込み、専用の器具でしっかり叩き込みます。
5. When a row of knots is completed, weave the
thread for reinforcement and hammer it firmly
with a special device.
6. Finally, tie the warps tightly.

例えば、小さな子が毛布やタオルなどやわらかくて肌触りの良いお気に入りを肌身離さず持つことで不安な気持ちをやわらげていたり、ペットのふわふわした毛の感触やぬくもりで癒されたりするように。
このふかふかのしきものが、誰かの暮らしの中で、心から安らげる、お気に入りの場所になり、心地いい時間が増えることを祈っています。

New designs are always born from a moment’s notice. When I’m reading a book in the sun, listening to the sound of a river, or chatting casually with someone.
The charm of knotting is the soft and gentle texture. For example, a small child can relieve anxiety by holding a soft and pleasant favorite item such as a blanket or towel on his/her skin, or be soothed by the feel and warmth of his/her pet’s fluffy fur.
We hope that this fluffy rug will become a favorite place in someone’s life where they can truly feel at ease and have more comfortable time.
お手入れ方法 / CARE
1. ふだんのお手入れはノッティングの毛の流れに
そって、衣料用のブラシなどで細かい埃や、糸く
ずを払うだけ。
1. For usual care, just brush along the flow of the
bristles.
2. シミ汚れは、中性洗剤を少量混ぜたぬるま湯で
手洗いしてください。しっかりと水気を切って陰
干し。カラッと晴れの続く日がオススメです。
2. If it gets very dirty, dissolve the detergent for
wool in warm water and wash it by hand.

We also accept custom-made production according to the customer’s image. -First of all, please contact us from the inquiry form and inform us of the contents of your consultation, such as the desired image, your preferred size, shape and material.-We will incorporate your image into the design and make a proposal.
-Once the design is finalized, we can start production.
-When the product is ready, we will deliver it by courier.

ノッティングは量産品ではなく、一つ一つ手織りで製作しています。そのため、在庫がある場合をのぞいて、基本的に受注生産になります。ご注文をお受けしてから数か月～、注文が重なっている場合には、さらに数ヶ月お待ちいただくことがあります。ギフトなどでお届け日時を指定されたい場合や、お急ぎの場合は、できる限り対応させていただきますので、まずはお気軽にご相談ください。

All SAOL rugs are hand-woven. Therefore, unless there is stock, it is basically made to order. Delivery times are several months ~, and during peak seasons, you may have to wait several more months.
